The North Bohemian Gallery of Fine Arts Litoměřice (SGVU) is housed in several important cultural monuments, historic houses in the center of the monument zone of the town of Litoměřice. The main building is located at 29/7 Michalská Street and houses the permanent Gothic exhibition and rooms for temporary exhibitions. On the square Mírové nám. 24/16 square, the Diocesan Museum of Litoměřice is located in the front wing and the Museum of Naïve Art in the rear wing. The secularized Church of the Annunciation in Litoměřice is used for seasonal exhibitions and other cultural events. The SGVU is primarily dedicated to documenting the visual arts of Bohemia from the 14th century to the present day, as well as collecting, preserving, presenting and researching works of art throughout the country. These collections form the basis for the presentation in its own exhibition program as well as in exhibitions of other institutions at home and abroad. The SGVU in Litoměřice was opened in 1958, making it one of the oldest art museums in the Czech Republic. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the gallery offers temporary exhibitions and other public events focusing on fine art.
