A moated castle was built on the site of the original fortress in 1370, which was converted into a Renaissance castle in the 16th century. In 1527, Heinrich von Bünau bought the estate, which was sold by the Protestant Knights of Bünau to Christoph Simon von Thun in 1628 after they were forced to leave. On April 19, 1945, the castle was severely damaged by aerial bombs and subsequently confiscated. In 2000, the chateau was transferred to the town of Jílové, which immediately began a costly reconstruction of the chateau building, the adjoining park and other buildings belonging to the Jílové chateau grounds. Currently, the first floor and first floor of the chateau are being reconstructed and the Renaissance cellars are being opened. The chateau serves as a cultural and social center and the adjacent park is open to the public.
