The museum in the former classicist hunting lodge of the noble Thun-Hohenstein family presents the region's rich collection in various exhibitions. In addition to natural science exhibits in the permanent exhibition “Birds of the Děčín Region”, archaeological research results on the history of the city and a historical overview of the development of shipping on the Elbe are on display. The exhibition complex “Gothic Sculpture in the Děčín Region”, which houses a unique collection of exhibits from this period, is particularly worth seeing. In the “Stroll through Děčín” exhibition area, visitors can get to know important places in the city. A lapidarium and arboretum in the museum courtyard are open to visitors.
