The Grünes Gewölbe (Green Vault) is world-renowned as one of the richest treasure chambers in Europe. In the two exhibition areas, differing in character, visitors can appreciate to the full the splendour of the works of art on display. One may visit either the Historical or the New Green Vault; the latter perfectly complements the former. Walking around it, visitors can admire over a thousand precious objects created in the course of three centuries, among them the model of the "Court of the Great Mogul Aurangzeb", which incorporates 4,909 diamonds, 160 rubies, 164 emeralds, one sapphire, 16 pearls and two cameos. They are displayed in perfectly lit non-reflective glass cases, so that visitors can examine the treasures at close quarters and be enthralled by the infinite wealth of detail.
