Anyone, young or old, who would like to get to know and enjoy the wealth of folk art created in Saxony will find a unique display of it in the atmospheric setting of the Jägerhof. The museum offers a wide-ranging insight into the world of folk art, presenting an abundance of old traditions but also new works on the borderline between everyday life and art: delightful carved objects from the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains), printed and embroidered woven textiles from the Lausitz region, splendid Sorbian national costumes, and superbly worked lace from the Vogtland, painted furniture, richly decorated ceramics and an unusually diverse collection of historic toys. The Puppentheatersammlung, one of the most important collections of its kind in the world, brings alive the poetic, dramatic, magical and comic world of historic puppetry.
