Karrasburg Museum Coswig – small and charming in a historic location, rich in information about the town and region near Dresden, full of ideas and suitable for visitors of all ages.
In 1996, the museum was reopened in the villa known as “Karrasburg.” The house got its name from a moated castle that stood on this site in the 15th century and was inhabited by the Karrasse family of knights. Since then, the small museum has been showcasing a wide range of topics related to the town and region: archaeological finds from the Stone and Bronze Ages, one of the most beautiful surviving Saxon village churches, famous personalities, and interesting facts about industrial history, such as the first Saxon automobile, can be discovered here. In addition, three temporary exhibitions on a wide variety of topics are presented each year.
All exhibitions at Karrasburg Castle involve visitors of all ages. In addition to interesting exhibits, there are often stations for discovery, research, puzzles, games, and relaxation. Always present: the museum mascot, Cosimir the fluttering ghost—making a visit to the museum an experience for the whole family!
