The Botanical Garden was founded on January 1, 2002. However, it was not created “on a greenfield site”, but its area has been used for horticultural purposes for around 100 years. Little is known about the garden's beginnings at the end of the 19th century. Count Clary-Aldringen may have played an important role, but it is also possible that this is just a rumor. What is certain is that the word Stadtgärtnerei can be found on the building plans from 1904. Among the unique plant species to be seen in the garden are an ancient specimen of the African conifer Afrocarpus (Podocarpus) gracilior or the cycad Encephalartos villosus from the same area, a huge specimen of the Philippine Medinilla magnifica, the beautiful Mexican Dasylirion serratifolium or fifty-year-old cacti and other succulents from the collections of Professor F. Eck and above all the Teplice cactus grower V. Pulce. Also worth mentioning are two seventy-year-old, richly fruiting specimens of Gymnocladus canadensis.

The garden is closed to the public on Mondays! Open Tuesday to Sunday: January to March: 9 a.m.–5 p.m., April to May: 9 a.m.–6 p.m., June to August: 9 a.m.–7 p.m., September: 9 a.m.–6 p.m., October to December: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Admission fees
Single-entry admission: Adults 135 CZK, students up to age 26 with ID 95 CZK, children aged 3 to 15: 70 CZK, seniors aged 65 and older, people with disabilities: 100 CZK, children aged 0 to 2, ID for people with severe disabilities and one accompanying person: 0 CZK, groups of 15 or more receive a 10% discount on single admission—the total amount must be paid in one transaction. Family admission: 2 adults + 1 child aged 3–15: 330 CZK; 2 adults + 2 children aged 3–15: 390 CZK; 2 adults + 3 children aged 3–15: 450 CZK; Other: Dog (dogs are only allowed in the outdoor area – however, this does not apply to service dogs, which are permitted) 100 CZK, guided tour in Czech 400 CZK, guided tour in English 700 CZK, school group – without program or guided tour (accompanying adult free) 50 CZK
Transport connection
Take the trolleybus to the “U Nových Lázní” stop, then walk 200 meters through a residential neighborhood By car: There is a very small parking lot right next to the Botanical Garden (it’s better to look for a parking spot further away from the garden) During the day, buses can use the “Na Doubravce” parking lot, which is usually empty.
