The Dresden Park Railway is a tourist attraction in the Grosser Garten. It also provides a worthwhile and useful leisure activity for 200 children and young people. Provided that the weather is fine, the trains generally run, from April to October, at intervals of 12 or 18 minutes. Passengers can begin and end their journey at any of the five stations: Hauptbahnhof an der Gläsernen Manufaktur, Zoo, Carola¬see, Karcherallee and Palaisteich. The gauge of this miniature railway is just 381mm (15 inches), and the 5.6 km round trip lasts 30 minutes. This is clearly a must for all railway fans. In 2015 we will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the two steam engines and the 65th anniversary of the Dresden Park Railway.
